tuina massage

Tuina massage Gareth Powdrell, Nelson
Tuina massage is based on a combination or anatomy and physiology combined with Traditional Chinese Medical theory. Tuina massage incorporates a number of rhythmic compression techniques and acupuncture point stimulation (acupressure) to relax the muscles, increase blood flow and regulate the nervous system.

The practitioner uses gliding, kneading, pressing, rocking and percussive techniques to assess and treat abnormality which may present as tension, decreased muscle tone, tenderness, knots, joint restriction or areas that are excessively hot or cold to the touch.  Depending on the patient and the problem that they present with, techniques can be applied with very firm pressure, similar to a deep tissue massage or in a more gentle way if firm pressure is not suitable for the patient

People commonly receive tuina massage used for arthritic joint pain, sciatica, muscles spasms, back pain, neck  pain and shoulder pain, but as its based on the same fundamental theory as acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, there are treatment methods for a wide variety of conditions
